My early years were spent in San Jose, CA with my parents and sister and brother. School was always important to me and thankfully a wonderful part of my life. I went to Pacific University for both my BA and Masters of Education, so Forest Grove has been my home for many years now.
My teaching career began in California, working with an after school program in Berkeley, CA. I worked at Thousand Oaks Elementary School for a little over 6 years, managing the interventions and enrichment of 200 students after school. While I completed my teaching credential, I took a job as the Academic Coach for two elementary schools in Bay Point, CA. There I taught small intervention groups, helping students gain the skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Next, my partner and I moved to Oregon for new jobs, where I took my first classroom position teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at Neil Armstrong Middle School.
Lucky for me a position opened up here at the Forest Grove Community School in 2008!
My love of teaching lies in the passion and drive to learn new skills, concepts, and information. Both myself and the students learn together and it is wonderful. Beyond teaching, I spend many hours in my garden, reading, and dancing. Of course, all of that happens when I am not spending time playing with my two children, Sully and Julian and our three dogs, Sam, Waffles, and Pancakes.
