This week begins our final unit of study, science fiction creative writing. Students will plan and write their own science fiction story. This piece is the final piece of writing for the school year. Please ask your student to share their ideas and check in often about their writing progress.

Social Studies:
Students are finishing up the Immigration chapter and preparing for the Ellis Island Simulation.
The Letter to a Representative is due on May 10 for the Spring Research project, Research a Bill. They have researched a bill that is currently being debated in the Oregon Legislature. Students will write a persuasive letter to a sitting Senator or Representative asking them to support or not support a current bill. The goal is learning how to write a persuasive letter and will help students to learn more about current legislation that might affect them in the future.
